This June, I returned to Germany for my second tour and what a journey it was. From the very first morning, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. I kicked off the tour with a live appearance on ZDF Morgenmagazin, where an estimated 500,000 to 1 million viewers across Germany watched me perform and share a piece of Zimbabwean culture in real time. That moment set the tone for everything that followed: music without borders, conversations that matter, and stages that became bridges.
For this tour, I had the immense joy of collaborating with Agita Rando, an exceptionally gifted Latvian organist and pianist. Together, we created something truly unprecedented: for the very first time in most parts of Germany, the mbira and the pipe organ played together in concert. This fusion of Zimbabwean rhythms, classical organ textures, and original compositions was not only intimate and expansive but also historic.. a meeting of two ancient instruments, two worlds, and two souls in sound.
Our journey took us across the country; performing in Berlin, Neuruppin, Kitzingen, Ansbach, Munich, Ingelfingen, and Fürstenberg. Each city brought its own energy, its own audience, and its own unforgettable memories. And all of this unfolded during an intense heatwave that swept across Germany. Despite the soaring temperatures, people showed up and showed out filling churches, leaning in, and creating an atmosphere that no weather could dampen. To witness audiences hearing the mbira sing alongside the mighty organ for the first time, in those warm, packed spaces, was a gift I will carry with me forever. The silence before the applause, the wide eyes, the tears… they reminded me why taking creative risks matters.
One of the most significant highlights was our performance in Munich. This concert was more than music; it was a celebration of a 30-year partnership between the City of Harare and Stadt München, established in 1996. To stand on that stage and honour three decades of friendship, cultural exchange, and shared vision was deeply moving. I was particularly proud to share that moment with my brothers from Pamuzinda, who joined me on stage and brought an authentic Zimbabwean spirit that filled the room with warmth and fire. We were not just performing for an audience; we were weaving a living tapestry of connection between two cities, two cultures, and countless hearts.
A profound thank you to the City of Munich for the support that made that special evening possible, and to every organiser, church community, and partner who opened their doors to us across Germany. This tour reaffirmed my belief that music is one of the most honest tools we have for storytelling, healing, and building bridges.
